๐ป๐ณ Do I Need an Onward Ticket for Vietnam?
Recommended โ it isn't an official requirement, but it's wise to have one.
Official sources ยท last checked 14 September 2026
The rule
Vietnam's entry law lists a valid passport and a visa or visa exemption as the conditions of entry โ a return or onward ticket isn't among them. We still recommend carrying one: it shows you'll leave within your permitted stay (your permitted stay), which helps if an airline or border officer asks about your plans.
What counts as proof: A ticket out of Vietnam leaving within your permitted stay
When it may be checked: Not an official entry check ยท Airlines or border officers may still ask about your plans
Recommended: have proof available before departure.
