The rule

Mexico's immigration institute says that, to confirm the purpose of your trip, the officer at the arrival filter will ask for a hotel reservation, return tickets or a tour itinerary, and how you intend to leave the country. A ticket out within your permitted stay (your permitted stay) answers both questions at once.

What counts as proof: A return ticket · Or a ticket leaving Mexico for another country

When it may be checked: Airline check-in · INM immigration filter on arrival

Recommended: have proof available before departure.

Also good to know

  • Mexico sets no minimum passport validity: it must be valid when you enter and for the whole of your stay.
